Does anyone else notice that there are FAR MORE SOU cars running around untouched than NW?  N&W was a 50-50 partner in the merger (so they claim) and where is the N&W heritage unit?  It's a darn good thing it was an end-to-end merger, as the green team is definately running the paint booth, among other things.

See Imprinter, you're not the only one who wants to rant about paint. :-X OK I'll shut up now.

NW should have one too.  All these SOU steam engines, cars , SOU-inspired F's... it's kinda gross :-X not having equal representation for the NW workers.

ANYWAY... Back on topic, 35N took it to Peru and set it off today.

I ain't a bit worried about the N&W, I'm more into the NKP.....   ;)

Oh and do trust that the SOUTHERN was in charge, the mentality is what is todays NS management style.  All the old heads talked at length about how it changed for the worse when the merger happened and the managers showed up.

Fer sher.  You can tell when you're in a SOUTHERN yard.

Besides the bad looks you get as a "Northerner"..  haha
The old heads use to tell us how fun it was when they first started running down there.

A few of them still tell us.  My favorite line from an old head story, he said to a Southern TM... "I don't work for the Southern, I work for the NORFOLK Southern".

The Southern 4610 is currently sitting by itself at the west end of the yard at Peru.    It was set out by the 35N this morning.

Sorta off topic...but according to lionel you can make anything an SD-70Ace :P Even Southern, Conrail, Norfolk Western, and Virginian. personaly I think they look crappy. they should have just modded old scemes to fit the ace.

That Conrail unit makes me wanna throw up.  What's with the black vertical stripes?? >:(

Back on topic once again, 4610 is on display in Peru for NS Family Day today.  Pics obtained, of course.  I haven't been to Peru in a while so I didn't know about the event.

My it's looking rough. Cab numbers and Southern lettering on the long hoods are way over due for a touchup, but it was still nice seeing the unit still there as of a half hour ago. Steps were still there, but I didn't venture over for a closer inspection despite no one near the unit except the yard cab drivers. Jay

Anybody know if the 4610 will be coming back east now that the Monticello event is over?

I'm guessing it'll go back South via Louisville.

We are seeing a lot of N&W Covered Hoppers coming up the INRD from the South Loaded. Just the other day there were 3 or 4 of them going up to Indy.
