I really do not see anything on the web site to make me believe the 765 is heading direct from NJ.

John, my info is gleaned from posts by the FWRHS guys on various internet boards.  The plan is for the 765 to depart from North Judson after the trips on the July 4th weekend, head up to Chicago and make a ferry move to Rock Island from there.

That's not set in stone yet, I've heard rumors that they may move via the BNSF(Mendota Sub to Galesburg and then up to the Quad Cities that way) or even the CN Iowa division.  I guess we shall wait and see for sure which route they finally choose next month when it happens.

I heard of a potential southern route from Fort Wayne through Peoria. I agree I do not believe anything is set in stone, at least that was my take 2 weeks ago.

Given that we have no idea, I don't think anyone else does either. There are multiple options, all with logistical problems and issues to be addressed.

Cool. You might want to spell check it though ;)

What are the solar panel looking things on the BNSF ballast hoppers in the last train?

Solar Panels.  Charges the batteries for the remote control discharge gates.
The opinions, views, and incoherent ramblings presented here do not necessarily represent the view point of any company I work for or own,  any logical thinking being, or even me.

And while you are spell checking, dump the musick and have only the sounds of the trains for audio.  I'd also recommend trimming the video to remove all the scenes where there is not one train in sight.  Watching people mill around is not a train video.

Sorry, I don't mean to come down so on this, but when I watch trains, I don't want to listen to someone bellowing over twanging gheetars or see people dragging little kids around.  The "VIDEO" portion when trains are present is really quite good.  Please, let the trains be the art.

(And yes, I deliberately misspelled music and guitar to fit how I feel about the subject.)

Here are three pictures I took in 2006 of some UP ballast cars with the solar panels from the window of the lounge car of the California Zephyr. My grandson and I were headed to California and the CZ was detoured over the UP north out of Denver and then west through Wyoming because of track work on the Moffat Line. The picture was taken at Speer, Wyoming just south of Cheyenne as we were turning to head west.
Have a good and safe day!

NKP 765 should be back home.  I saw it rolling East through Lagro Tuesday morning.
