Re: Train v. Car - Vincennes - 1-17-2011 - CE&D - Seminary Street

At approximately 8:05 P.M., 1-17-2011, a vehicle became stuck on the tracks at Seminary Street and the 11th Street Crossing on the CSX CE&D line in Vincennes (near MP 235.5).  A very short time later, Southbound Q595-17 struck it before Knox County Central Dispatch could notify the SB Disp. at Nashville  All persons in vehicle (per 911 reports) had just gotten clear of the car just shortly before the Southbound struck it.  While the occupants were getting out of car, Q595 had rounded the curve North of Hart Street (just one block North of Seminary), saw the car, went into emergency, but could not get stopped in time before striking it and shoving it to the West side of the main.  By about 8:30 PM, Q595 was back on its way South and the driver of the vehicle had been taken into custody for operating while intoxicated.
Thought I heard about that. I heard someone go into emergency last night.

Lost his car and almost his life.  At least he lived to contemplate his stupidity.

It's everywhere, it's everywhere, haha!  Idiots on the loose as usual.  On a serious note though sas bad weather a factor or not?  I know we've had a lot of snow and ice so I thought maybe he got stuck in that.  Thank God his family did not get hurt in the incident.
