Just a little FYI. Saw on another group that the potash trains that normally came down CSX to INRD and on to Louisville is taking its new route across northern IN, into Ohio and down to the LIRC in Louisville.
sigh...only in pictures now.

My sources confirmed NS was awarded the business.

Maybe NS got some of the business but not all. K883 left Chicago Friday night with a pair of CP locomotives on the point taking CSX across northern Indiana and turning south at Deshler. Trace showed the train was to be turned over to LIRC at Louisville.

Both the L&I and CSX serve the river port where this move is destined. It would seem if CSX moves it as far as Louisville, they would go ahead and deliver it. Would not labor rules dictate this?

If your records show CSX turned it over to the LIRC, maybe a deal was struck. If it's not CSX equipment or power and they get the line haul to Louisville, it may be less costly to simply hand it off to the L&I for delivery.
