Madison RR Nov 20th 2010
« on: November 05, 2010, 02:45:02 PM »
Madison RR will be running a "Winter Express" (a.k.a Polar Express)
Between N. Vernon and Madison.
Saturday Nov 20th.

Dec 4th? "Santa Train" out of North Madison.

The "Passenger car" that was at Jeff Yard at the LIRC in Jeffersonville was moved to Madison for this.

So that is where that came from, nice looking car, saw it there yesterday and caught Ms Hale as she was leaving, she said they are going to do a little work on it too plus use it on these trips.
Have a good and safe day!

HoosierVirg  WHAT is your phone number, WVRR list is incorrect.
I was going to call you the day the car was move from Jeff to North Vernon.

I was informed that morning that it was being moved, but never made it down for pics.
Was hoping to contact you to get some in different spots.

Please email me your number:  BantaRail@aol.com

That is all the info I have at this time, another RR employee informed me, he just had the dates.

I am not sure but I think the Santa Train is for locals folks, NOT SURE.  Will check.

Sorry for lack of info...

Usually that is the way the Santa Train is set up, kind of payback to the members of the community who have given their tax dollars to keep the Madison running when times were very lean. Things are a little more profitable now that they are storing all those cars out in the JPG.
Have a good and safe day!

What I was looking for was about the North Vernon trip. If no tickets are available I still want to get photos.

If I see/hear anything it will be posted immediately, I may even stop by and ask the specifics if I get a chance, I am sure Brian will do the same.

The "Santa" and "Polar" trains ARE NOT FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
They are JUST for the City of Madison,  Jefferson and Jennings County Citizens ONLY.
As per statement from the Madison RR received today.

I plan an photographing it with the newly painted passenger on the 20th.

Looks like one of the SD7's. 6998. It was scrapped by CR. It's sister 6999 is on TRRA with a chopped nose.

Here's a couple more photos from the Hill.
Starting uphill from Madison, and looking south from "big cut".
