Jack W. Anderson
STUART, Fla. – Jack W. Anderson, 72, a past resident of Tipton and presently of Stuart, Fla. passed away on Sept. 1, 2010 in Florida.
He was born in Tipton on Dec. 6, 1939, the son of Russell and Blanche (Slaughter) Anderson.
Jack had graduated from Tipton High School in 1956 and attended Ball State University later in the 1980s.
He was a police officer his entire life, first with the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959 where he had a “Certified Expert” rating with both pistol and rifle, then the Tipton City Police and finally as an officer with the Norfolk and Southern Railway Police from 1969 until his retirement in 1993.
For a brief time, Jack was married to Doris Jones. He then married Jan McCreary Ewing on Dec. 1, 1974 and she survives.
Jack was active in the puppet ministry at Frankfort First Baptist Church. He was also active in the Riverside Avenue Baptist Church in Muncie; Christ Church UMC in Findlay, Ohio; and the Community Baptist Church in Stuart, Fla.
Along with his wife, he is survived by three children, Shirley Anderson, Robert W. Anderson, and Stephanie Anderson, all of Tipton; his step-children, Greg (Karen) Ewing of Hobe Sound, Fla., Kathy Ewing Buesink of North East, Pa., and Gary (Sara) Ewing of Battle Ground; his grandchildren, Jeremy (Annalyse) Ewing, Steven Buesink, Tara Ewing (Mike) Pickett, Michael Beusink, Jonathan Ewing, Bree Ewing, Tyler Cummings, Elisha Ewing, Caleb Kear, Ian Kear, Braden Kear, Amber (Jake) Westfall, Brian O’Connor and Morgan Wolfe, great-grandchildren, Braden Westfall, Isabella and Caleb Pickett and Miss Baby Pickett due in December; a brother, Michael (Monica) Anderson of North Vernon; and two sisters; Beverly (Bobby) Mahaney and Brenda (Jim) Henry, both of Tipton.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Randy D. Buesink.
A memorial service will take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Porter Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Sittason officiating.
Jack’s family will be receiving friends two hours prior the service at the funeral home.
The family request memorials are made to the Gideon’s Memorial Bible Program or to Community Baptist Church at 777 SE Salerno Rd. in Stuart, Fla. with envelopes available at the funeral home.

I heard about Jack's passing this morning. 
Sad to hear.

I met him a few times.
