Notre Dame Line Purchase?

Finally...some progress on converting this former Michigan Central/New York Central/Penn Central/Conrail/NS line into a bike path on South Bend's west side.

A company called Monarch Textile Rental is complaining about the potential loss of parking on Wilber Street if the bike trail is put through.  There was a Monarch Ice at Rupel Street on the other side of Lincolnway that still has the remains of a spur off of this branch line embedded in its lot.  Not sure if there is a company connection between the two of it is just a coincidence both were named Monarch and near each other.

It looks like a relatively new parking lot was built that encroaches on the ROW just south of Lincolnway and next to the former Hoosier Brewery building between College and Wilber.

Well it's official...Notre Dame is stopping the use of coal.  What was the source of the coal trucked into ND in recent years since the NS transload service off Olive Street near the now demolished NJI&I roundhouse stopped a long time ago?
