Railroad employees 1850-1930 Wabash Indiana
« on: April 21, 2009, 04:49:13 PM »
The site http://ingenweb.org/inwabash/ which is mainly a genealogy site for Wabash Indiana has recently posted a list of railroad employees who lived in Wabash 1850-1930 taken from census reports.  Perhaps this is too narrowly focused for this site, but I thought it worth mentioning since I have not ran across anything similar for other Indiana cities and railroad employee records before 1930 are few and far between.  Wouldn't that be nice though if there was a site with this information for all towns in Indiana?

Interesting.  It would be nice if other counties' genealogy folks would do similar projects, since there are a lot of ancestors out there would worked for "xyz" railroad.

In Allen County (Fort Wayne) the Pennsy employed 10,000 or so at the locomotive and car shops.  I'd hate to do searches on that many people at one time.
