Pretty surprised a police officer has that poor situational and spatial awareness. Glad to hear he will make a full recovery.  A few more inches and he probably wouldn’t have the same outcome

Uhhhh, Chief.... HE'S STANDING ON THE TRACKS!! This cop got extremely lucky here, but IMHO, he needs to find other employment if he can't hear the horn right behind him...

When I was on the Wayne Twp. Fire Department on the west side of Indianapolis, We had two young boys hit and killed by a train that was setting on a Bridge. There was no Crossings close by and they had no Idea that a train was coming. That could have been the same thing that happened to this officer. He is very lucky.

Losing situational awareness is a leading cause of aircraft accidents. Pilots are at the top of their game and it happens to them.
