For this month’s Railfans of Indianapolis program on Saturday, July 13, we welcome back Fred Ripley of Columbus, Ohio, who will continue his tour of BNSF’s former Santa Fe mainline. On this trip we get into Missouri. The Santa Fe’s Missouri Division was absorbed by the Illinois Division in 1956, but Fred uses the old term to describe the territory west from Fort Madison. A parade of trains is illustrated in night shots, shots along the main line west as it cuts through the “toe” of Iowa crossing the Des Moines River into Missouri, and heading for Marceline through scenic rural countryside. Fred is always prepared with facts about the history of the area he is covering, so this should be a good show. Our meetings are held at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 2560 Villa Ave., Indianapolis. Meetings start at 7:30 p.m. Visitors and guests are always welcome at our meetings.
