Durango & Silverton Sued
« on: July 03, 2019, 05:32:39 PM »
Not Indiana related but just heard that the Federal Government plans to sue the Durango & Silverton Railroad for $25 million due to their negligence in starting the forest fires in Colorado last year.

Wonder what sort of implications this will have on other steam excursions.

Time to convert a couple locomotives to oil firing or pick up a couple of the Alco DL535's that the White Pass are unloading. Use them when the fire danger is high.  Even those diesels are classics in thier own right.  Paint them up in a flying DRGW style paint scheme, heck, LGB did it in G scale!  Hope they survive this mess.

That is the 2nd lawsuit filed against them.  Local merchants also sued for "lost revenue" due to the shutdown during the fire meant fewer visitors.  Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.   ::)
