Hello from Jasper
« on: May 06, 2017, 06:31:06 AM »
Hello everyone,
I am researching the early railroad in Jasper...mainly before it was purchased by Southern.  From newspaper articles, pictures, and other sources I know what the early locomotives were; identified where the turntable and other railroad structures were located; and also the location of grain elevators, warehouses, etc.  And most of the switching and sidings that existed at the time.
I have little knowledge of how railroads operate so I have come here to share what I know and hopefully this group can help with some of the technical details so I can visualize the movements that occurred in the yard on a daily basis.
My ultimate goal is that someday I will be able to model this so I can teach others.

You may already know most of this stuff but one of the members on this board - I think his name is Butch - has compiled this list of information about it:  https://sites.google.com/site/indianarailspointsofinterest/short-lines/dcrr-southern-french-lick-to-huntingburg
