Batesville Fall Color Trip
« on: April 08, 2008, 11:05:37 PM »
Saw this on the Cincinnati Railway Company website about an excursion trip from Cincinnati to Batesville returning to Cincinnati the next day. They also mention a side trip to Shelbyville on another page of the add. Hope CSX can get that defective track fixed west of the "yard" by then. This would definitely be a rare sight for Shelbyville.

Looks like the side trip is only as far as Greensburg - maybe it will run out behind Honda.  Below is from Cincinnati Railway's website.  Looks like a 9 cars train - 4 Montreal cars (former Montreal commuter cars which are the "new" cars over on the Lebanon line), the dinner train (also off Lebanon line - an ex NYC diner, a table car, and a "party car" [baggage car tunred into dance floor/bar/etc]), and 2 of the Private Varnish cars.  Assume power will be CNRY 85 - former NKP GP-30 that efforts are underway to restore to as-deliverd NKP dress.

Since CSX is in no apparent hurry to repair their tracks East of Shelbyville I could sort of see that schedule change coming. I may still sign up for that trip though. It should be fairly interesting just getting to ride from Cincy to Batesville and then up to Greensburg and back. I put some pictures on the Shelbyville CSX thread of the track etc. out East of Shelbyville.
