Hello from the Daleville area
« on: February 02, 2016, 09:28:23 PM »
Hello gang,

I just found out about this site today a thought it was high time I joined.  I've been in the hobby, off and on, since 1971.  My parents gave me an HO set purchased from the Bob Lines Train Shop in Muncie.  The set was put together from various makers, the loco was a Tyco 0-4-0 Shifter (ATSF) and most of the rolling stock was also Tyco.  There were a couple from AHM and one from Athearn.  It had a basic Tyco throttle pack and an oval of brass track.  Sad to say that I no longer have any of my original set, it was traded or sold of when I switched to N scale in the late '70s.

I am back to HO now, HOn3 more specifically.  I'm also planning a portable switching layout in standard gauge.

I look forward to being an active member of this site.

PS:  Dan Goins (former Science Teacher, DHS), PM me if you read this.

Welcome!

This site is full of information, whether archived or post a question . . . and someone will answer pretty quickly.

And a lot of news (about scheduled events or happenings) are posted real-time.

Per modeling, you have the Muncie Train Show coming up Feb. 27th (that's nearby, obviously).

Welcome, Dan!

If you need any prototype information on which to base your model -- history, operations, photos, track charts, etc., -- this is the place to come for all things Indiana Railroading.

I have no room or $$$ for HO modeling, but I do play around in the Trainz Simulator by NV3 Games from time to time.

Thanks for the welcome, all of you.

Thanks also for the heads up on the Muncie Train Show.  I've attended this event in the past, but will not be able to this year due to a scheduling conflict.

Sorry for any confusion, but my name is Vernon.  I think my shout out to a favorite teacher from my high school days should have been more carefully worded.

I don't think that Dan is a member of this board. I've never seen a post here attributed to him.

He posts on Trainorders.com , mostly on the modeling board using the nom de plume "santafedan."
