Current Indianapolis Map with Route Names
« on: January 03, 2016, 12:20:25 AM »
The attached map shows the general and/or Conrail route names along with what the route was historically (Big 4, PRR, etc).

All the main tracks still in service (to my knowledge) are highlighted and labeled.

To further help, a few notes on the CSX nomenclature... Nearly everything on this map is considered part of the Indianapolis Terminal Subdivision with the exception of the B&O Indianapolis Subdivision, Shelbyville Secondary Subdivision, Frankfort Secondary Subdivision, and Crawfordsville Branch Subdivision West of Clermont. This also encompasses the St. Louis Line to MP12-14 area (West of Avon) and the Indianapolis Line to CP273 (just West of Franklin Rd.)

Essentially, everything CSX took control of added the word "Subdivision" to the Conrail name. The remainder of official names are as follows.

Indianapolis Line Subdivision
St. Louis Line Subdivision
I.T. Sub. - Indianapolis Belt Branch
I.T. Sub. - Louisville Secondary Branch
I.T. Sub. - Crawfordsville Branch

Has the Caven I.T. been officially taken out of use or abandoned?  I don't see it on either map above.
Cheers, Al

Seeing the first map makes me sad that ITM isn't connected anymore

Same purpose as the map I posted, but I did notice the West crossover at IJ is in the wrong place.

I saw that, and that map comes from a CSX document from the time of the de merger lol

What difference does it make?

I've seen the older yellow map before. Possibly from the 40's or 50's. Why is the Transfer Yd on the Pennsy St Louis main called Caven Yd?

Caven Yd was near Raymond and Kentucky Ave. Misprint or what?   ???

Well, it doesn't hurt for things to be accurate.

Then its missing connections at Belt Crossing, IU isn't accurate, connection missing at Dale, etc.

Or you can take it as its face value as a quick reference of the major points in the terminal.  It wasn't meant to be a detailed end all be all map.

I found the original map at the bottom of this page.  http://www.kinglyheirs.com/AbandonedRR/Monon1.html#.VpWNfFJ3XGt

I tried to add/correct things that were missing but I completely missed that one.
