West Baden trolley in business
« on: July 09, 2015, 11:38:21 PM »
Did anyone else hear West Baden has rebuilt a trolley and is using it between the hotels? Evidently they rebuilt the line last year.

The start of track work for the French Lick Casino-West Baden Hotel track in Aug. 2014.

Northbound to West Baden at the Al Beck Plaza trolley office at French Lick in April 2016.

I talked to one of the Motormen on 11-27-2016 and they had already passed 270,000 passengers since the trolley line was restarted in 2014.

The trolley is on its second diesel motor and hydro-stat transmission.

Hotel/Museum  had to bring in a crane to turn the trolley around to put some wear on the other side of the wheels and that is expensive. They are going to have the old wye fixed up next year (so they will not have to use a crane again).

Trolley has not been running for the last few weeks.  We saw this outside of the trolley barn.  Looks like Tommy Trolley (that's what my daughter named it)is getting his wheels/axles worked on.

After I posted this Trolley was back on line, we rode yesterday.  New wheels felt like a different ride.
