N Scale IPL Cars
« on: March 05, 2015, 07:55:18 PM »
Not sure if any of you model N scale, but Trainworx is releasing an updated IPL hopper from the way backs, as these cars would have ran in this scheme on the ICG is pre-INRD days and prior to the final IPL logo days.  This is actually a version of these cars I was looking for some pictures for a few weeks ago and Pat Sanders from Trainworx has been able to provide some additional details of the car series and build dates for these cars.  Unfortunately, Iím not a N scale modeler.

http://www.train-worx.com/15-3quadhopper.pdf

EWSX 10001-10050  ICG Centralia built 9-72                                       14 panel   3834CUFT   Sheet metal Reddy Kilowatt
EWSX 10051-10101  Built 5-73                                                                12 panel   3737CUFT   Reddy Kilowatt
EWSX 10102-10106  Built 8-74                                                                12 panel   3737CUFT   Reddy Kilowatt
EWSX 10107-10117  Acquired sometime between 4-77 and 10-83        12 panel   3737CUFT       ?            Probably 1978 wreck replacements
EWSX 20001-20049  Built 9-74                                                                12 panel   3737CUFT   Reddy Kilowatt
EWSX 20051-20055  Prior to 4-77                                                           12 panel   3737CUFT        ?           Maybe 1976 wreck replacements
EWSX 30001-30140  Built 10-75                                                              12 panel   3737CUFT   IPALCO

These were renumbered as:
10001 to 10117 became 70001 to 70117
20001 to 20055 became 80001 to 80055
90001 to 90140 became 90001 to 90140

Thanks,

Gerald Davenport

When Big 4 hobbies was still open they had a small layout of tulip trestle with a couple inrd sd60s and the ipl cars. I can't remember if it was n scale or z scale. That's been like 6 or 7 years back

That was z scale.  A customer had built that and brought it in for display.  Vern might have been the guy's name?

What happened to it? Did zak keep it or was it sold when the store closed?

Yeah I agree. It was very well built and the detail was on point. That model would be really neat in a larger layout, just that added onto it.
