Fundraising for the Garfield Park streetcar shelter
« on: February 02, 2015, 12:54:55 PM »
There is a streetcar (or possibly interurban) waiting shelter located in Garfield Park (Indianapolis) located along Southern Ave, just east of the LIRC. It has been deteriorating for many years, though some measures have helped to slow the decay.

The Indy Parks Foundation is currently trying to raise funds to pay for a full restoration (estimated at $120,000). They are seeking $25,000 in matching funds by February 14, 2015 in order to secure the grants.

See the attached flyer for more details, photos, and how to donate.

I have been by the waiting shelter recently. Appearantly, there were enough funds secured, and the restoration has been done. It looks really good!
