Bridge abutment Nevada In. Tipton County
« on: December 27, 2007, 10:22:37 AM »
The Pennsylvania Railroad ran thought Tipton County, Between Kokomo and Elwood.
There were Depots at Nevada, Windfall, And Curtisville.
I have seen pictures of the Windfall and Curtisville depots but not Nevada.
There are some bridge abutments near Nevada.

Makes you wonder who scrapped the bridge itself...

It does make you wonder. Funny how their is a descent size bridge over a small creek in Center(near Kokomo)on this same line that is intact. There is an apartment complex nearby that still has rails in both of their driveways even. It wasn't but 10 or 15 years ago the relay box and crossing signals at CR 300 South in Center where finally taken down. Another pair of crossing signals still stood in Windfall up to at least 1990 on one of the town's side streets before they were also removed. They were the older heavy duty metal types with the recessed lettering on the crossbucks signs and signal lights mostly intact that hopefully didn't end up in a scrapyard. Anyone know if the bridge just Northwest of Downtown Elwood still stands? Thanks for the look, Jay
