NS Chicago Line frequencies?
« on: August 02, 2014, 08:27:58 AM »
Sitting here at Butler currently. Listening on 161.070 and 160.800 for the Chicago Line and 160.440 and 161.250 for the Wabash. Hearing just fine for the Wabash but not a peep out of the Chicago Line. There have already been 2 trains and I missed the symbols on both due to not being able to hear signal calls. Cannot hear the detector at MP 355 either.

Have they changed the frequencies on this line since the last time I was here?

It looks like your missing the newer frequencies used on the N&W

160.800 for the chicago line, 160.380 for the wab.

161.250 and 160.440 are used farther south.

For the record
CH 18      160.380
Huntington District
Detroit District

CH 22      160.440
Detroit Terminal
New Castle District
Frankfort District

CH 46      160.800
Chicago Line

CH 58      160.980
Dayton District

CH 64      161.070
Marion Branch/Red Key

CH 76      161.250
Fostoria District
Bellevue Terminal
Cleveland District
Columbus District
Sandusky District

CH 92       161.490
Chicago District
If in doubt, Notch it out!

How about down south: Louisville south, Louisville west, and the channels for track warrants. Thanks

Looks like for the Louisville District,  AAR 56 CH 160.950 for the road channel.  Dispatcher or track warrants channel unknown.

Spoke to soon, found some other channel's so listen to on the Louisville District.   Other channels to monitor are AAR 09 (160.245) and AAR 48 (160.830). Those are known as "Channel 2" and are used as a duplex channel between trains and the dispatcher. Track Warrants are issued on Channel 2.
