I took my Ham Radio Test in 1964 and things have changed alot...

As one poster stated many railfans get there license to carry and Scanner (or a 2 meter VHF radio full of RR Frequencies, Which the 2 meter radios are far superior to a scanner in sensitivity) and find that there is more to the hobby than Railfanning.  Check it out or take a class or get with a local radio club but it is enjoyable.
