Q688 is on the Louisville Secondary with UP-UP-KCS leaders. Z397 (National Starch switcher) was getting permission earlier to do some work with RSSX 1414.

CSX 9969 was found peaking out of union station facing east at 951 this morning.. not sure if it was geometry or OCS. The "support our troups" fuel tanker from jackson oil painted in an OD green camo scheme was pulling up next to the engine to give it fuel as i drove down south street.

He was going to Queensgate..  Geo train... But there was a Windmill train headed to IU, and Jacksonville dispatch made him wait until 30 mins past noon. When he was ready to move at around 9:30am.

This despite being a two car train. So ether the Jacksonville DS didn't want to bother shortening up the warrant for the windmill train to let him get to Julieta to make a good meet.
That or CSX has taken all the short sidings OOS....
If in doubt, Notch it out!

Does any One know what CSX is doing. Makes you wonder if they know what they are doing. Keep Wondering. Keeps You in "Suspense"

earlier in the morning i caught a csx gp40 shoving 4 empty lumber cars westbound on the b&o running LHF with a railbox, box car coupled to the front of the locomotive crossing emerson ave.

then about 5pm i caught a freight train running the crawfordsville at lynhurst. then it had a long string of double stacks after the DPU. any idea what train this is? was it the 688? should have knocked down davis at about 5pm.

Just caught Q361 (the westbound) on the St. Louis Line at Harding Street at 0930. It was a nice long train, with two units up front (CSXT 7004 leading) and a DPU mid-train.

Spotted this BNSF grain train today on the CSX Shelbyville Secondary. I caught it in Indianapolis at Shelby Street. Does anyone have any background on why it would be using this line? I was surprised to see it.

Wheat train off BNSF at Chicago going to ADM in Beech Grove. Fairly regular move. Believe symbol is G995.

Not really a sighting, but more of a "hearing" . . .

It would seem that smashboards are alive and well on the CSX Indianapolis Line Sub!  I just heard on the scanner a few minutes ago of an unusual activation failure at the North Sherman Drive grade crossing in the Brightwood area.  The storm that blew through Indy within the past hour managed to spin the crossing gates there, such that as an eastbound train approached the crossing, the gates dropped to horizontal across both tracks instead of across the street, and the train crashed into them.

When the engineer contacted the dispatcher to report it, the dispatcher said that a bystander had called 911 to report the incident.  Of course no one was injured, but it kind of sucks that Mother Nature just created a bit more work and expense for CSX's signal department.

Hopefully, the overtime on the signal maintainer's paycheck will make the trip out into the wilds of Indiana worth it.
