Likely headed to scrap.  CSXT has over 800 gons hitting the 50 year wall this year.  Worse next year.  Should not be good order cars as  they are short everywhere.  Wouldn't think they are bad orders for repair since, well, that would likely be us,

Related, I have 105 rebuilt CSXT gons getting ready to head to Florida to help elevate shortages down there.  No idea yet if CSXT will run as unit train or in several cuts.  Virtually all have been fully repainted - 9 in left over blue, balance in basic black,
I did see a few that had B&O marks so maybe scrap will be their fate.

McClure has track time from East End Washington to Huron with the siding at Montgomery.  I think he is a signal guy.  Seems to be working westward. Must be up to something, big or small.

Seems to have been a few S560s non DPU that would be east of Seymour in the afternoon.  The one today left Jeff at 11:30am.
The new norm?

New norm for now.  Q560 still running Birmingham to Toledo with DPU as scheduled.  S560 running as needed, originating at either Nashville or Louisville - traffic that is too much for the land barge.  Looks like 4 to 5 times per week

Chanced upon J-780 crew tying up in Mitchell yesterday afternoon about 5 PM. Poor photo due to sun angle and using my phone camera. Had to stand in the pole shadow. I couldn't even see the picture in the screen as I took it. None the less, interesting mix of 11 or so freight cars.

7 engine consist sitting at Thornton Rd crossing (westside of Cincinnati) right now, led by CSX #321. Any idea of what train this is? I'm assuming it's Q560 but I thought it was obolished. This is the last area that the land barge can sit without blocking crossings. I'm thinking something is ahead of this as to why they are sitting here with crew on board.
Spoke to the crew. It's Q574. They informed me that Q504? Is sitting at Finney. Crew changes. Q574 is 10,000 ft in length.

Saw that 7 engine monster eastbound at Trautman.  Could not linger to watch as I was about 1000 feet or so up in the air in a Delta MD88 on approach to CVG  :P

For whatever the reason, J700 has been stashing some of J780's cars in IL in the Beman siding before J700 goes to Washington. I'm assuming those cars will not fit in the Washington siding. Heard conversation last night and comment was made that maybe J780 needs to run more often. J780 only comes to Washington twice a week, correct?

J780 is at Montgomery heading east I assume. DS said something about signals at Mitchell & Huron.

Pretty long string of hoppers back in Loogootee siding yesterday. Saw them from US 50, couldn't tell if they were open or closed.

Was at a High School track meet at Loogootee and took these photos of the hopper string. The west end is past the third light pole.

Grain Train is the consist of V20822 that was showing Ozark AL to Seymour IN.   Obviously the stashed it in siding for storage.

J700 went to Washington today engine light to get cars from J780. 780 didn't make it due to a big tree on the tracks somewhere east of Washington so J700 came back to Vincennes all broken hearted and the Washington siding still full. If J780 pulls the siding tomorrow J700 will fill it right back up with cars that are stashed around Vincennes and Wheatland. Even the SA DS said"Holy sh*t" yesterday when talking about rail cars and where to put them. 😂

I've been wanting to make a trip up to Seymour to chase something east on the B&O towards Cincy, though I wouldn't mind going after 780 if it ran. Not 100% familiar with train operations up there other than the few that run north out of Louisville.

Was in Seymour today. CSX Signal Maintainers were working on the  New Signal Box next to the Museum where the New Switch and Signals are at.

One other Question. Since they put the Switch in. What is the Plans for the Rest of that Siding since it has been Cut off from the Main?
