Every county in 2013
« on: February 05, 2013, 01:07:51 PM »
Since our railroad yearbooks have kind of fizzled out the past two years, how about a slightly different approach this year...In 2013, let's try to get current photos of railroading/trains in every one of Indiana's 90 counties that has had a railroad. If someone can figure out a way to get railroading photos in Ohio and Switzerland counties too, that'd be a big bonus.

Rules:
-Photos must be from 2013
-Start a new topic for each county; subsequent photos should be posted as replies to that county's topic
-We'll keep a running list below of the counties already accounted for
-As always, play nice and have fun :D

Here is the list of counties, those with * have at least one photo posted:

I don't know about Ohio county, but a friend of mine lived in Switzerland county a few years ago, and I remember that there are a couple of places along the river where you can clearly see the rail line in Kentucky from the Indiana side. That is the best shot at that county, if that counts.

Not sure what kind of video camera you have but on my Canon I have grabbed a snapshot off the video(in the camera) then take the SD card out and put it on my computer. The broken rail shot was early morning so it was a tad fuzzy. They are not bad shots. I'll post a few here for you to look at. PM me if you have more questions.
Remember that we are wanting a photo from each county. Its NOT a quality contest.  ;)

If you post multiple counties, can it be of the same train??
I chased the Q268 from south of Scottsburg back to North Vernon.
Just curious.

   Rog :D
Just never mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't see why not. Chase a train across the state, and you'd end up with half dozen or more counties.

And as for videos, if you can capture stills from the video, that would be preferable.

So far at just before the middle of the year, we have 40 counties represented. So just short of halfway.

Still some big ones left to snag, and of course some toughies too. Let's see what can be done yet this summer!

I hope somebody already has unposted pictures of Dubois, which is ridiculous. From May to October it is the easiest schedule to follow!

Does anyone know when they serve the north end of the old Monon Michigan City line? There are a few active customers in Francisville and Medaryville.
Prairie Maverick.

Is the big curve on the Indy Line just south of Pendleton still within Madison County? If so I could provide a still from a video of mine.

I spent some time in Medaryville.  Trains were very irregular and were unit trains.  (I have photos somewhere)
I think the local stopped at the plastic tile manufacturer in Francisville.   It's been a while, but I think it went up the branch twice a week.
