I wanted some snow shots, but this is a tad extreme.

So does CSX still have any of the ex CR plows in operable condition?
If in doubt, Notch it out!

Seem to recall a Wedge Plow in Anderson, and a jet blower in Avon. Think that's about it for the Indy area.

Also thought INRD had a plow contraption somewhere in Senate yard.

After 30-40 hours of no traffic over Christmas, I'm not expecting a lot of action on the N.S. line today . . . . not with this current weather forecast.

Too bad, as the camera is warmed up to see some amazing (yet blustery) scenes.

You might be surprised then.  Things are already back up and running.

And I'm sure that's the same with CSX too.

At 07:34 nothing is lined northbound on the CE&D but I do see a southbound lined out of Danville.  Thats just what the ATCS is covering, Ingle to Carlisle and then RB Jct. & Cayuga to the north. I'll have to say it is pretty bad down here. So far its everything they were saying which is a first.  ;)

I saw that Sullivan county is under a travel warning. Or was, anyway.

Just a question though.  What about the PTI's like here on CSX. When it gets bad they don't run. So what do the crews do when they go on the law somewhere. I assume catch a ride with the next train?
Thanks

I expected to see the logjam break loose with all the trains parked for the holdiay.  So far, only two on the NS New Castle District.  I was slipping and sliding in my 4x4 p/u, so I can just imagine that the ride in the crew van is the riskiest part of the job.

NS is hoppin' and boppin' in Muncie.  Caught 59D and 48N ? Southbound this morning about 1030 .  CSX rolled an EB thru MIE about 1100.  Snaged an unknown manifest NB on the Frankfort and caught him again in Alex.  There was a 142 out there, this may have been him.  Also other trains on the scanner.  Tho.ha are breaking loose and the weather is gorgeous!  Film at 11!
If it moves or makes noise...I'm interested!

Q647 was saying they can't see the southbound signals. All covered in snow. They almost come to a stop before they can see the signal indication.

We stop for Christmas, not weather.

And exactly how many 'bad' winters have you under your belt out here?

Glad im on off days I can imagine everything is down to a snails pace.

I don't remember stopping for weather.  The winter of 1996 we had to dig and find switch stands.  I never worked through a blizzard though, but I heard the stories of 1977 and 1978 about getting stuck at work and the plows ran.
