Mononradio--an iron ore pellet plant is relatively clean from an environmental standpoint. The process mainly involves crushing to a fine powder, then mixing with Bentonite clay and water to form a paste, which is then balled up into pellets. The green pellets are then sintered to produce a product that is strong enough to hold up under subsequent handling. There is no smelting going on and no generation of hazardous waste.

Thank you for that explanation.  Perhaps things aren't quite as grim, environmentally speaking, as has been alleged.  Hyperbole, especially in all things environmental, does no one any good.
