If you click the video that's within the article, they show lots of pictures from the early 1900s of the trolley tracks that are now underneath layers and layers of asphalt on Wabash Ave. They're going to be tearing the tracks out instead of just resurfacing it this time.  I wonder what other historical treasures might be unearthed? I'm hoping I can get back down to TH while this project is still going on to be able to get a look at the tracks. :) I've heard rumor that one of the old street cars is parked in the woods somewhere near Honey Creek Middle School. Any truth to this?

Were the Terra Haute streetcars yellow? This may be it.

That may very well be it, but I couldn't tell you what color they were. Where did you find that? :)

I think Terre Haute's streetcars were older than the one in the photo, but perhaps it was one of Indianapolis' (which were yellow and blue at the end).

How do you know how old it is from that wreckage? lol What clues do you use to tell the age? I know TH stopped using them in the 40s. When is this from?

Because the body looks more like this: http://www.davesrailpix.com/odds/in/htm/indy28.htm
than this: http://www.davesrailpix.com/odds/in/htm/thie02.htm

It could've also been a trolleybus, which I don't know if Terre Haute ever had.

I see....sort of  :D
I'm a member of a Terre Haute group on Facebook, and I asked about the trolley there. I was told it was taken out when they developed a new subdivision. One of the members thinks he might have pics of it, so if and when he posts them, I'll repost here to see for sure. :)

I was talking to my father-in-law about this and he said they are digging down about 5' deep. I guess thats to get everything out. As I understood him the road was sinking in places because of the tracks.
