Roger, the Madison Railroad caboose is no longer used as the office down in town, it is now out by their building in the Jefferson Proving Grounds north of town, here is the correct address for it. 1121 W. JPG Woodfill Road
Bldg #216 Madison, IN 47250. They use it for their excursions when they run them. I have also attached a photograph.

Have a good and safe day!

Go Reds!

I list no caboose in East, Lake, New, North, South, or West Webster, nor for just plain "Webster".  Roger

Do ... "you have one on Kuhn Lake, several miles south of North Webster"?  Howard

Hi,

I list B&O #? from Bean Blossom, IN, at the same intersection but as being "near Trafalgar, IN", as it was reported to me.

Thanks, Roger

That makes sense...the intersection is closer to Trafalgar than Franklin.

Hi,

I have a question about MONON 81528/L&N 919/6919/49.  After it became a Seaboard System caboose, it was reported as  SBD 12049, as SBD 749 and as SBD 12749.

The SBD 12049 makes sense because L&N 6049 would have become SBD 16049 but I'm uncertain if or why it would have become SBD 749 or 12749.  Does anyone know which SBD number(s) is correct?

Thanks, Roger

Greencastle has a repainted B&O cab that sits right off US231 adjacient to the Monon Diner. Does anyone here have any info? The wheels looked shiny, maybe this one is used for reverse moves on the Monon?

Hi,

Perhaps you mean steel, wide vision cupola, C&O 3321/903321/BGFX 1971 which is or, at least was, a private owner RV:
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1299806 ?

B&O only had one steel, cupola (not wide vision), caboose, C&O 90099 to B&O C3050/903050, now at Tri-Town Safety Village, Schererville, IN.

Cheers, Roger

That looks like the same one.

I'll try to check out the Oaklandon one soon.  The McCordsville one is still in place as part of the barber shop, not for sale.  The barber shop also has some of the white people scluptures that were once in Indianapolis Union Station.

"I'll try to check out the Oaklandon one soon."

It was still there and for sale when I checked on it on January 26th.

"The McCordsville one is still in place as part of the barber shop, not for sale."

OK, I'll take the 'for sale?' off that entry.

Thanks, Roger

Hi,

It appears that Port Huron & Detroit may have had 4 cabooses - #50, 51, 60, & 62.  However, the dates of the photos I've seen of these "4" cars do not overlap.  This invites the thought that #50 & 51 were older and retired when the newer #60 & 62 appeared or, more temptingly, that #50 & 51 were repainted and renumbered to the identical #60 & 62 when rebuilt, perhaps in the late 1970s?  All "4" cars can be seen on the "Fallen Flags" photo site.

Does anyone have a listing of PH&D cabooses?

This topic arises due to a beutifully restored PH&D 51 in Westville, IN.

Thanks, Roger

North Judson - EJ&E 510 to B&LE 1989, steel, cupola, built 4/56, as above; -- This caboose is still lettered for the B&LE 1989.

North Judson - IC 99xx? to Central Indiana 100 as HV 99, steel, cupola, as above;  (NUMBER lost forever?) -- This caboose may have been owned by the ERES, but never confirmed. It was Chicago & Indiana 100, Tippecanoe RR (no #) and then HVRM 99.

Plymouth - SOU X748, steel, bay window, Webster Elementary School, 1101 South Michigan Street; -- This caboose is lettered for Southern Pacific X748.

Not to nitpick, but the cab in Remington would be east of I-65, not I-75.

Hi,

Does anyone have an ID or address for the (steel?/cupola?) caboose on the west side of SR 13 near Kuhn Lake in Lakeview Springs (south of North Webster), IN?

I could be mistaken, but the last time I passed the Caboose Lake campground in Remington, it looked like they had added a third caboose.

It's been about a month, and I can't remember the type or road (something about going by at Interstate speed). I'll pass by there this weekend, and I'll see if it's still there.
